Stephen graduated from Linden-Kildare High School in 1977 in his east Texas hometown of Linden, TX, and played the bass drum for the Linden-Kildare marching band. He served in the Army in the 14th field artillery from 1978 to 1981, working as a mechanic on tanks. He received an associate degree from Dallas College North Lake Campus and went on to work as a building automation project manager, installing many HVAC systems in DFW schools and high rises.
He had a deep love for music and could always be found keeping his home clean and pristine while blasting his favorite songs from the 80s on his cherished stereo system. He was a longtime Cowboys fan, and rarely missed watching a game. Since childhood, he always had a knack for taking things apart and putting them back together, and loved spending time in his garage fixing things, and even building his own computer. Stephen loved everything airplanes, and one of his favorite things to do was take his daughter to Founder’s Plaza at DFW airport to watch planes take off and land. He was full of stories, and could find humor in any situation, always finding ways to make others around him laugh. He loved still and quiet mornings and drinking lots and lots of coffee, always with an obscene amount of sugar. Above all, he loved his children and was always boasting their accomplishments to anyone who would listen. Stephen was a kind soul and hard-worker, resilient in all of life’s adversities. He will be missed deeply by all those whose lives he touched.
