Married to Rogelio Castillo in 1977, they became the parents of two beloved children, Rogelio Castillo Jr. and Marianne Castillo.
A proud alumna of Far Eastern University, Mary achieved remarkable success throughout her academic career. After graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences Degree and Cum Laude from the College of Law with a Bachelor of Laws Degree, her thirst for knowledge didn’t stop there, as she went on to earn an additional Master of Arts in Letters. She gained widespread recognition for receiving multiple gold medals in oratory, declamation, and debate competitions during these college years.
Mary then served as an attorney at the Office of the President in Malacañang Palace in the Philippines for 18 years, and concurrently, as a professor of English and Literature at Far Eastern University Philippines for 10 years. Thereafter, she worked for the telecommunications department at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas, TX for 13 years. In retirement, she dedicated several years to assisting as an Auditor for the Archdiocese of Dallas Tribunal.
Beyond these countless accomplishments, Mary was always committed to God, her family, and those around her. This devotion to the Lord and her community radiated in everything she did.
In her spare time, she cherished playing the piano, immersing herself in books, and showing her deep faith through teaching. She shared these talents by leading bible classes and during daily masses at Divine Mercy of Our Lord Catholic Church and at St. Pius X Catholic Church, where her music always had a way of bringing people together.
To those she held dear, Mary will forever be remembered as the life of the party. Her sharp wit and warm humor always filled every room with laughter and joy. This legacy of love and delight will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
