John Dennis Larsen Sr., age 83, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 in Richardson, Texas. He was born on June 28, 1941 in Hackensack, New Jersey to John Larsen and Dorothy Elizabeth (Schmidt) Larsen. John was raised in Hackensack, New Jersey and Miami, Florida and attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. John served in the Marines as a Lance Corporal from September 1959-September 1963 and in the reserves until September 1965.
His family and friends will always remember him as a lover of the open road, traveling across the United States to sightsee and visit his family. His love of reading about history and conspiracy theories will be remembered by all. He also had a unique but unwavering love for his family.
John is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Butler Larsen of Mesquite, Texas; sister, Dorothy E. Larsen of Sandy, Utah and his parents. Left to cherish his memory is his son, John Dennis Larsen, Jr of Garland, Texas; daughters, Dawn Reane Larsen-Dearick and husband, Michael A. of Wills Point, Texas; son, Bryan Erick Larsen of Mesquite, Texas; stepson, Jerry Butler of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and sister, Marion Michaelis of Poulsbo, Washington; granddaughter, Shelby Leigh Larsen-Russell and husband, Colton D. of Wills Point, Texas; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members.
A visitation for John will be held Friday, October 18, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Anderson-Clayton-Gonzalez Funeral Home, 1111 Military Parkway, Mesquite, Texas 75149, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM. A committal service will occur Friday, October 18, 2024 from 2:30 PM at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas 75211 ( Lane 3).
