James Allen “Bud” Lee, age 82, of Mesquite, Texas, passed away at his home on September 3, 2021, after a lengthy battle with COPD and most recently, cancer. Bud was born August 28, 1939, in Hugo, Oklahoma, to parents Wilbor and Ledell Lee. He met the love of his life, Lila Mae Warren, and they married in 1968. Bud worked in the construction field with his father and brothers, and went on to become a Master Carpenter, a career which spanned over 50 years. He spent his later years doing construction, maintenance work and farming for Happiness House and Meadow Oaks day cares. He was the right hand man to the owner, Pauline Logan, who quickly became a treasured family friend. Bud was known for his strong work ethic and also for his stubborn streak. Prior to his first fight with cancer, he had only missed 1 day of work in his life. He was a big believer in being on time, and believed “If you were just on time, you were late, and if you were 5 minutes late… well you might as well not even go”. Bud loved to read, travel and drive the country roads with Lila. They enjoyed going camping and fishing, and they loved to farm and garden. Bud loved his little Yorkshire Terriers, and would often sing to them and get down on the floor to love on them. He was also known to sneak them food from the table when he thought no one was watching. Anyone who knew Bud knew they could count on him for help with anything they needed. He would drop whatever he was doing to help others in any way possible. Bud was preceded in death by his wife Lila Lee, his parents Wilbor and Ledell, his brothers William Lee, Giles Lee, Larry Lee, and Steve Lee, his sister Arlene Hix and his granddaughter Ashley Ward. He is survived by his daughters Sherry Williams and husband Kenneth, Sonya Ward and husband Eric, and Gail Crowe and husband Darren, his brothers Paul Lee and wife Mary Kay, Jim Lee and wife Paulette, Dennis Lee and wife Anita, sisters Mary Tacquard, Bettye Wiley and step sister Jo Ann Klotz, grandchildren Cody Roof, Amber Kimball and husband Jason, Blaine Crowe and wife Mary, Karah Finto and Brooke Crowe, great grandchildren Lex Kimball, Stephan Finto, Chandler Finto and Mia Finto and many nieces and nephews. Bud will be truly missed by those who love him the most.
