Gloria Jesusita Gomez was born on October 29, 1943 in Sweetwater, Texas to Francisco Q. Gomez & Dolores Torres. She was the eldest of eleven siblings, four sisters and seven brothers. She attended Sweetwater High School. She enjoyed playing with and being with her siblings and cousins. She’s always enjoyed family gatherings. Gloria married the late Pascual Castro on November 12, 1966 and they had one beautiful daughter together, Elisa Marie. Her daughter was always her priority. In order to provide for her family, Gloria was a seamstress for many years and also worked in retail. She enjoyed knitting, crafts, cooking and baking for her family. She enjoyed being in her garden and her only granddaughter was the light of her life. When she could, Gloria loved to country dance to her favorite singer George Strait. Her favorite spot was sitting in the recliner, watching The Waltons on t.v. or old movies, and her favorite movie was Steel Magnolias. Gloria was a very loving and caring woman who was always willing to help others. She truly loved and cherished her family. A woman of faith, Gloria was a devoted member of the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Mesquite. She was a dedicated wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and sister. She loved her daughter unconditionally, and she will be missed tremendously. On Sunday, September 28, 2014, Gloria Castro was called Home to meet her Lord, Jesus Christ. She was greeted in Heaven by her parents, Francisco & Dolores Gomez. Her life will continue to be remembered and celebrated by her daughter, Elisa Marie Jackson & her husband Keith; granddaughter, Raegan Marie; brothers: Edward Gomez of Sweetwater, Lupe Gomez & his wife Mary Ann of Grand Prairie, Tony Gomez & his wife Patricia of Burleson, Frank Gomez, Jr. & his wife Romana of Seminole, Jerry Gomez & his wife Belinda of Sweetwater, Rudy Torres & his wife Lydia of Oak Cliff, and Mario Gomez & his wife Sarah of Sweetwater; sisters: Juanita Gomez of Sweetwater, Velia Gomez of Sweetwater, Delia Sparkman of Abilene, and Maria Castro of Sweetwater; and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
