Uncle Gene, you had a great service.  I loved that your physician, Dr Patel, got up and spoke about you. Only you! We are all going to miss you. I’m going to miss looking at Black Friday ads with you on Thanksgiving, and always joking that you were going to buy Aunt Donna a bread maker.  You always had the best stories. We didn’t want to give you to the Lord, but I’m glad you’re out of pain, RIP, We love you 

He was always so kind . I remember going as a young child to a lot of the Watson family events always smiled always so happy.
It’s so heartbreaking knowing another great family member is gone.

I was introduced to Gene, Donna & the "whole crazy, lovin gang" in around 1976ish,  I guess it was, by Ricky, & wow,  my life has never been the same.  I was "adopted" into that family & I am rich because of it.  From the times spent at the 50s parties (I was looking at my scrapbook from one of those the other night), to the bowling competitions (I still have my trophy), to a trip to the lake for all kinds of fun, to the many karaoke nights, the good ole' dancing to "real" country music, to the Texas hold'em times (when I used a cheat sheet just to know "what beats what")  & even I recall way, way back when, there was 1 time at a valentine party at Randy & Renee's when I actually partook in just a wee wee bit too much liquid refreshment & Gene & Donna got me home safe & sound, & gosh the memories just go on & on & on; its impossible for me to pick a favorite.  Gene was contrary when he wanted to be, & he wanted to be a lot - in the old days.  But he was sincerely one of the most awesome individuals I've ever known & I feel this loss just as though he'd been my barely-older-than-me brother.  I am so thankful that Alesha & I got to spend some time with Gene in the hospital not so many days ago.  That's a memory I'll cherish forever, &  that's the last time I got to hear him say, when talking about Donna, with a smile on his face, "She's my soulmate."  It's also the last time I got to give him a kiss on the forehead until I see him again in Heaven.  Miss you so much, Gene, but thankful you're not hurting any more. Love, Renae

My deepest sympathy goes out to the family. I  hope that knowing that Gene is no longer sick and is walking on streets of gold can give all of you some comfort in the days and weeks to come.  If there is anything I can do don't hesitate to ask. RIP my friend, you will be missed.

Daddy bird, I love and miss you so much! I know that you are in a better place walking around and in no pain. Lord I wish and pray that you never have to go through any of this and you could still be with us! I will miss your smile, your laugh, you sense of humor, your story telling, you always being so feisty and hollering “I got a gun and I’m not afraid to use it” every time we would walk in the house 🙂 lol. Even when you were having a bad day, you always had a smile. I love you so much daddy bird! I know you are our guardian angel watching over all of us! We will be together again!
