Chris was born on October 30, 1980 in Wayne, MI. He spent his early years in Canton MI, a
suburb of Detroit. Chris was the baby mom's dream of having. Content, eats, sleeps, coos. He
was a happy baby. No trouble at all. Then came the terrible twos and from that moment on
Roger and Theresa never stood a chance. Chris was very intelligent, yet very mischievous.
Even at two his problem solving skills were very good. Chris enjoyed exploring in the middle of
the night. His favorite game was to leave his room and go outside in just his pajamas and in
over a foot of snow, go for a walk. As you can imagine this was not parent approved. Tried
vaseline on the doorknob, too slick for him to turn. Chris uses a shirt to grip the knob. Put a
hook latch on the outside of the door. Chris climbed the dresser drawers breaking them to the
top of the dresser and used a hanger to flip the latch. Ultimately Chris was in lockdown. This
would be the first of many for Chris.
The Laskowski Family moved to San Antonio in 1985. Chris soon starts at Montgomery
Elementary. There they learn how intelligent he really is. His reading comprehension is great.
He loves knowledge and to show his knowledge to people. Yet Chris’s teachers notice some
issues with Chris doing the work. He can tell you all day, but handwriting was sloppy and he
refused to do paperwork. He was bored in his classes so he would disrupt class and act out.
Ultimately the school decided they want him to skip a grade, but socially Chris is lacking. Later
in elementary he did skip a grade. He hadn't found his people yet. Chris was a very thoughtful,
loving, caring, loyal, protective person. If you were his person, you knew he loved you. Chris was
a “ride or die” before there was a “ride or die”. School was very rough for Chris. It was very
heartbreaking to watch him struggle. It was ultimately discovered Chris had dyslexia,
dysgraphia among other learning disabilities that affected his ability to write and other fine motor
and coordination skills. BUT never his ability to argue.
Ed White Middle School. This is where Chris’s life changed forever. The poor teachers at Ed
White. This is where Chris first started to sharpen his skills, that would stay with him forever.
Chris loved to challenge and debate. You could be a Doctor MD or PHD. He would challenge
your knowledge of your field then debate you until out of frustration you wanted to cause
physical bodily harm to him. But he did make you think and challenged those around him to
learn. Around 7th grade he met Nick Blandford. Some guy was hassling Nick. Chris and Nick
had been acquaintances since their time at Montgomery Elementary School. Chris has been
bullied so he didn’t like bullies. Chris pushed the guy into the bathroom and beat the shit out of
him with his own chain leather wallet. From that day on Nick and Chris were great friends. Chris
had started to find his people. Then came Bryan McKenna AKA Bucky. Chris knew what it was
like to be tormented and ostracized. Chris made you feel normal and welcomed, an instant
camaraderie. Bucky truly befriended Chris and joined the group in the eighth grade with James
Watson.
Around 8th grade Dave Henderson AKA Bevis joined the group. Bevis noticed Chris was
smarter than the average bear. He knew he was going to get into some great adventures, so he
tagged along for the ride. Amazing adventures the gang had. Around sophomore year Ryder
Meek made 6. The hell-raising, heavy metal loving, gun enthusiasts, mischievous, don't give a
damn, march to the beat of their own drum group were together up through high school.
As people do upon Graduation everyone went their separate ways. Nick joined the Army. Dave
joined the USMC. Ryder, Bryan and Chris started working as apprentice machinists at an
engine porting shop. The engines were Nascar engines. They loved it. After a while Ryder
started to settle down and started a family. Bryan moved out of state and became an IT
Professional and settled down starting a family as well. Lucky for Chris, by this time Nick was
back from the Army. Nick and Chris started working as Repo men for a towing company, then
took a job at an apartment complex. Chris found his calling. He loved it. Bounty hunting, repo,
bill collecting, skip tracing. If it involved finding some and taking something or someone Chris
was in. The adrenaline, the possible danger. Dave also returned and reunited with the group..
In mid 2017 Chris moved from Houston back to San Antonio to live with the love of his life Misty
Mason. He couldn’t have been happier. He loved Misty with everything he had. In 2018 they
moved to Dallas for Mistys work. With all the political madness going on to debate with people
and other good conversions with Misty by his side, Chris was living his best life.
In 2020 Bryan returned to San Antonio and reconnected with Chris.
Unfortunately , it was all abruptly turned upside down at the end of May 2020. Chris became
very sick. He was taken by EMS and immediately intubated. It resulted in 10 months in ICU and
14 in an LTCA. Chris as usual win or lose wasn’t going down without a fight. Misty never left
Chris’s side.
While Chris was in the hospital Misty and Chris were finally able to buy a home that was theirs.
In February 2022 Chris came home to his home and Misty. He needed lots of care. Misty took
care of him while working full time.
On July 8th he became sick again. Again taken by EMS and immediately intubated, On July 27,
2022 at 1:13 pm Chris was taken from his ICU room to the OR where there was a transplant
team waiting. Chris peacefully passed at 2:14. Chris was an organ donor. The transplant team
removed his two kidneys and pancreas for transplant. Right then Chris’s final act of caring had
forever changed the lives of 3 families who would carry a part of Chris with them throughout
their lives. Chris’s final wishes reflected his long love of the pursuit of knowledge. He wanted
that which could not be used for donation to be used for research. Thanks to his final act of
caring the possibilities are endless for the people and families he is going to help and good he
will do. We couldn’t be more proud of Chris.
Nick, Dave, Bryan and Chris were still friends, until Chris’s final moments. Ryder unfortunately
passed, February 8, 2021. He was also still friends with everyone until his last moments.
