Bobby John Boone

Bobby John “Bob” Boone passed away peacefully at home early on Thursday morning, April 13, 2017, just six days before what would have been his 84th birthday and wedding anniversary. Ruby, his devoted wife of 30 years, has been his primary caregiver during a protracted and painful illness following hip and back surgery three years ago. He had been in hospice care for nearly a year and the family particularly wanted to acknowledge and thank Christie, Bryan, and Sotoya of Pathway Hospice for their considerate care for Bob during a very difficult time. Bob was born April 19, 1933 to Ted and Lila Boone in Forney, Texas. He graduated from high school there where he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Billie Frances Patterson, who predeceased Bob in a tragic accident many years ago. Although Bob spent most of his adult life in Mesquite and Dallas, he never lost his affection for Forney and his friends there. Not long after high school Bob went to work for the R.A. Peterson Floor Company where he learned the business. He eventually started his own company, Boone Floors, which he operated successfully through the years until his retirement. Bob loved sports, especially football and basketball, which he played in high school. He was instrumental in helping to get Pee Wee football started in Mesquite. He sponsored and participated in fast pitch softball. And as long as he was able to drive, whatever sport was in season he would keep up with the Forney Jackrabbits. Bob is survived by his wife, Ruby Boone, and his son, Ricky and his wife Vicki and their son Christopher and his wife Beth; and granddaughter Mickey Castillo and her husband Les and their three children; and granddaughter Tiffany Evans and her husband Joseph and their child; and brother David Boone and his wife Rosemary; and sister Edna Stiles; and sister Dorothy Parsons; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Billie Frances Boone and their son Ronnie Boone, and his brother Keith Boone. There will be a memorial service conducted by Pastor James O’Dell on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Calvary Hill Baptist Church, 3300 Laprada Dr., Mesquite, TX 75150. The family will be there at 9:30 A.M. for visitation.
