Encircled in the arms of his three daughters, Vincent Clark Weber, 82, of Shelton, Washington died on Monday, November 20th, 2023 in Mesa, Arizona. Born to Vincent H and Margaret Weber in Vancouver, Washington on December 24, 1940, the family soon made their home in Long Beach, Washington. As a boy, Vince enjoyed all the Peninsula had to offer, but his fondest memories always included one of his four siblings, Wilma, Irene, David or Gary. As a teen, Vince enjoyed spending time working on or cruising in his car and playing football. He assisted with the sibling paper route and worked in the meat department at Don Andersen’s Sunset Grocery. After graduating from Ilwaco High School in 1959, he spent a year at the University of Puget Sound and another at Central Washington University. Marrying Joy Whitten on September 9, 1961, Vince worked in heavy construction as they moved through-out Oregon to follow his work. Vince loved to visit his siblings and spend time with his many nieces and nephews. Drafted by the Army just before his 26th birthday, Vince served in the 4th Division Infantry then transferred to the 46th Engineers Battalion C Company operating heavy equipment in Vietnam. He was recognized for performing seemingly impossible tasks and training new operators in his Earth Moving Platoon. After his honorable discharge in 1967, Vince returned to the Peninsula where he and his brother David started Weber Bros. Construction. Vince spent many years building logging roads on the Olympic peninsula as well as local projects such as the site work for the “new” Ilwaco High School. He had a strong work ethic. He served as a hunter safety instructor, volunteered as a firefighter, was commander of VFW #3721, and enjoyed assisting with Loyalty Day. He spent time hunting, fishing, chopping wood for his three daughters to stack and attended countless numbers of their events. By the end of his career in the heavy construction field he was known as a skilled dragline operator. In his later years he enjoyed spending his summers on acreage in the Shelton area and wintering in Apache Junction, Arizona. Vince is survived by his sister Irene Simmons, three daughters, Janet (Daryl) Swensen, Elaine (Gregory) McMillan, Marilyn (Brian) Sheldon; and six grandchildren, Eric and Emily McMillan, Jebadiah, Estella and Ione Sheldon, and Julian Swensen. A service will be held on Friday, December 22nd at 10am at Mount Tahoma National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in his memory to Ilwaco High Sports Boosters or the VFW.
