He relocated from Long Island, New York to Phoenix, AZ in 1974 with his best friend and confidant Sonny Gillespie his 1st cousin.
Ronnie was born on April 1, 1949, in East Meadow, New York to Edward and Fannie (Mims) Moore. He was raised in Long Island, New York, where he also graduated high school from Roosevelt High School. He earned his Associates Degree while residing in Tucson, AZ. Ronnie joined the US Marines, where he served honorably. After his service in the Marines, Ronnie continued to serve our country as a proud Marine Veteran, working as an Addiction Therapist for the VA Hospital. He treasured serving his fellow Veterans. Ronnie enhanced and saved many lives through his years working at the VA. Ronnie retired from the VA Hospital in April of 2015 after 18 years of dedicated service.
He met his true love Chandra Williamson in April 2007 in the VA Hospital parking lot. She was leaving out of the parking lot after visiting with her father. On their first date, he told her “I’m not the marrying type so don’t even think about it; Chandra said cool I am not either.” They wed 4 years later, on February 11, 2011, honey mooning in Hawaii. He enjoyed watching old movies, cowboy and “spaghetti western” movies in particular. He loved traveling to New York every year.
He is survived by his wife of 5 years, Chandra Williamson; step-sons, Nathan Moore (Renae), Justin Gaston; grandchildren Dimetres, Dominik, Janae, Dru, Jayclyn Moore and Nevaeh Davis. Siblings: Marie and Edward Moore Jr. (Proceeded in death), Marion Moore, Emily Moore, Richard Moore, and Gary Moore all of Roosevelt, NY. Two Nieces; Ramona Moore-Kennedy and Kuwana Moore Stevens; 3 Great Nieces and a Nephew: Daquan Kennedy, Leilah and Ahsann Stevens. Aunts: Estee Mims, Catherine Miller and Louise Brown, and a host of cousins and lifelong friends.
Viewing/ visitation will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2016, from 10:30 until 11:30, with funeral service starting at 12:00, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 1401 E Jefferson St, Phoenix, AZ 85034. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
