(Mary) Olivia Long Taylor, 91 of Mesa, Arizona died Friday March 27, 2015 in Phoenix, Arizona. Olivia was born on November 2, 1923 in Trenton, North Carolina to Paul Arthur Long and Flora Estelle McDaniel. Raised in Kinston, North Carolina, she married William Brown Taylor on February 16, 1947 in Richmond California. Olivia was a stay at home mom until her children were in middle school and then she started a career as a bookkeeper and payroll clerk, for several different companies. Olivia was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Leisure World Chorus, and The Transfiguration Episcopal Church in Mesa Arizona where she sang in the choir. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill Taylor, her brother George Long and her sister Pauline Green. Survivors include two children, daughter Susan (Keith) Cartwright of Phoenix and son Chuck (Karen) Taylor of Mesa, grandchildren, Victoria Einstein, Michael Einstein, Josh Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Andrew Taylor, Shelby Carter and Jordan Carter, nephews, Bill Liles and Michael (Melissa) Liles, 8 great-grandchildren, and her step-sister Nina Lassiter of Smithfield, North Carolina along with many cousins and great nieces and nephews. Olivia had a passion for theatre and was accepted to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York in the early 1940’s, she also loved to sing and loved her family. Olivia was a devoted wife, mother and a very dear friend. She was known for her kind spirit and a beautiful smile and will be terribly missed. Olivia will be cremated and laid to rest at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration alongside her husband Bill Taylor of 43 years.
