Michael was born on 10/30/1947 in Holbrook, AZ, to parents Isauro and Miquela. He graduated from Phoenix College and ASU in 1972 and 1978 and 1994 with degrees in Electronics, Accounting, and then Masters in Social Work. In 1979, he acquired is CPA certificate and accepted a position as an accountant at IRS, where he worked for more than 10years. After 10 years with the IRS he started his own Tax business. He then realized he loved working with people more than numbers, went back to ASU to get his Masters in social work in 1994. He worked as a mental health evaluator until he retired in 2010.
Michael was a great family man and a loving father. He married Lucille in 1968 and the couple had 2 children together, Loren and James followed by grandchildren Anthony, Gabriel, Koreena, David, Serena, Santiago, Kayla and great grandchildren Mia, and Alina.
Michael was a social, active man who was deeply involved in the Catholic church for the majority of his life. He enjoyed family, friends, reading, learning, teaching, hunting, playing music, singing, cars, and anything he can build with his hands. His family and friends will always remember him as funny, compassionate, and just one crazy Mexican.
A Funeral is scheduled for Michael on Saturday November 21st, at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church with no reception due to COVID-19. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Michael’s life. Flowers and donations can be sent to Lucille Tafoya.
