It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mike McEvoy, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who went to his Heavenly home on December 2, 2024, in Mesa, AZ. Born on September 26, 1965, in Sacramento, CA, to Francis and Bernice (Klotz) McEvoy, Mike grew up in the Sacramento area before spending much of his adult life in the Salt Lake City area of Utah. He and his wife Melanie settled in Mesa, AZ, in 2022.
Above all else, Mike’s relationship with God was the cornerstone of his life. His unwavering faith guided him through both joyful and difficult moments, shaping him into a man of profound love, kindness, and integrity. Mike’s faith was a reflection of his deep bond with his Creator, and his devotion continues to inspire all who knew him.
Mike was a man of many passions and interests. A skilled pool player, passionate scuba diver, and lover of music, he also found great joy on the golf course. His dedication to golf was matched only by the friendships he built along the way, both on the green and in his professional life. A generous spirit, Mike spent much of his time volunteering at food banks in both Utah and Arizona. He was deeply committed to helping those in need, and his heart for service was a source of inspiration to many.
Traveling the world was one of Mike’s greatest joys. He embraced every opportunity to explore new cultures, try new foods, and experience the beauty of nature. His love of adventure was a testament to his zest for life, and he had many more trips planned for the future—plans that will forever remain a cherished part of his legacy.
For nearly 30 years, Mike served as a sales manager and later as V.P. of Business Development for Hudson Printing. His knowledge, expertise, and genuine care for others earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. Mike’s ability to form lasting relationships transcended the workplace, and his warmth, humor, and selflessness made him a beloved friend to many.
A proud graduate of Cordova High School in Rancho Cordova, CA, Mike formed lifelong friendships that he nurtured throughout his life. His love for people and his ability to connect with others only grew deeper as he got older. Whether in Farmington, UT, or Mesa, AZ, Mike’s neighbors became like family, and his infectious smile and laugh, big personality, and sparkling blue eyes left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Melanie (James) McEvoy, and his cherished son, Tyler McEvoy, who were the light of his life, and his brother Joseph Lowe, as well as his sweet dog, Buddy. He is preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Bernice McEvoy, five siblings (Kathy, Joanne, Linda, Susan, and Jim), and his beloved son, Scott McEvoy. Though Mike’s physical presence will be deeply missed, his spirit, laughter, and the love he shared with so many will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
A memorial service to celebrate Mike’s life will be held on January 24, 2025, 4:30 PM at the Las Palmas Grand Ballroom in Mesa, AZ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The American Heart Association or your local food bank, causes that were close to Mike’s heart.
Rest in peace, Mike. Your faith, love, and joyful spirit will live on in our hearts forever. You will be missed, but never forgotten. We will be reunited in Heaven one day.
