Mary was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, August 8, 1975, to Romulo and Wanda Diaz, and was raised in the Mira Mesa community of San Diego, California. She graduated from Mira Mesa High School in 1997 and received her diploma in Medical Transcription from San Diego Mesa College. She enjoyed a brief career as a Proof Operator for Bank of America during her High School and College years, then as a Medical Transcriptionist at Healthcare Management Partners.
Mary left the workforce immediately following the birth of her first son to become a full-time mother. She devoted herself to the education of her sons as a homeschool teacher for 13 years. Her passion was to ensure the successful upbringing of her children which was demonstrated in how she prioritized their needs above her own. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking and bike riding, but did not enjoy camping in a tent. Even camping in an RV wasn’t her choice of outdoor activity. She appreciated all the opportunities where she served her community and church in various roles. She was an active member for several years at LifeChurch, in Gilbert, Arizona, where she volunteered alongside her husband in the children's and student ministries.
Mary will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her husband, Vince, and three sons: Jonathan, Jordan, and Joelan Nguyen. She is survived by her parents, Romulo and Wanda Diaz, of San Diego, California, and her siblings: Maria, Romy, George, Susan, Joseph, and John. Memorial donations may be made in her honor to LifeChurch International, Inc., Gilbert, Arizona.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 12, at American Leadership Academy, 3155 S San Tan Village Parkway, Gilbert, with visitation available from 9-11 and a Memorial Celebration of Life service at 11:00 AM. Interment ceremony begins at 1:00 PM in Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park, 6747 E Broadway Rd, Mesa. There will be no formal procession from the service to the cemetery. A reception for family, friends, and ministers will be held in the LifeChurch Discipleship Center, 16831 S. Greenfield Rd., Gilbert, following the services.
