John Aloysius Kelly IV, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on August 17, 2024, one day after his 88th birthday. John was born to John A. and Mary M. Kelly on August 16, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. John was the eldest of four brothers; James (deceased), Francis (deceased) and Joseph. John enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) in February 1962 and served in Radar Operations until his honorable discharge in October 1964. He then graduated from Temple University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Professionally, John worked for General Electric in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania until moving to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1976. He continued his engineering career working for Motorola’s Government Electronics Group in Scottsdale until his retirement in 1998.
John married Nancy R. Schindle in September 1959. Together they built a life of love and laughter while raising four children: Kathy (Gerry) Harder, Trish (deceased) Warfield, John (Lisa) Kelly and Nancy Kelly. John’s legacy continues with his grandchildren: Bryan (Kim) and Megan Harder, Elizabeth (Bryan) Lozada, Addison Kelly, Carlee Kelly and Brooke Warfield. John also has three great-granddaughters: Marlee Cosner, Stella Lozada, and Vivienne Tham-Harder.
Throughout his life, John enjoyed activities including golf, softball, bowling, hunting, and listening to classical music while cheering on his beloved Philadelphia Eagles. He helped coach football and softball teams for his kids.
A service to celebrate John’s life will be held at 10AM on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Mariposa Garden Memorial Park, 6747 E. Broadway Rd, Mesa. Following the service, John will be laid to rest at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery located at 1562 E. Baseline Rd, Mesa Arizona.
