Jim is survived by his wife of 26 years Patsy Clark Conant, daughter Cristina of Mesa, son Jimmy of New Mexico, a stepdaughter Marcy (Brad) Klingaman of Mesa and stepson Mike Miller of Montana. Jim had a total of 8 grandchildren, his grandson Hunter Cruz of Mesa was his pride and joy. He was also survived by his four legged loved one, Mama.
Jim was born on December 31, 1950, to the late Warren Conant and Mary Walker Conant in San Francisco, CA. Jim and Patsy married in 1996.
Jim worked construction from 1975-1988. In 1988 Jim began working for Mesa Public Schools as an accredited sports equipment manager at Westwood and Skyline High Schools. Jim retired in 2016. In Jim’s retirement he at Pat enjoyed spending summers at their home in Pinetop, AZ escaping the heat of the valley.
Those that knew Jim remember him as an avid rock & roll music fan. Especially the Beach Boys in which Jim saw in concert 49 times! Jim was a wealth of knowledge of all things and people in rock & roll. Jim was also a huge NASCAR fan and attended races with friends and family for many years.
Jim served his community as a member of the Jaycees since the 1980’s. He was awarded outstanding Jaycee of the year in 1983-84. Mesa Public Schools awarded him with the Martin Luther King Award for serving his community in 2011. Jim was loved by many and mentored so many young students and athletes. He never met a person he didn’t like!
