Everett F. Smith, age 78, of Alpine, Arizona passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, September 17, 2023. Everett was born in Wilmington, Delaware on February 10, 1945 to parents Everett and Diana Smith. Everett graduated from University of Arizona and received a Bachelor Degree from College of Pharmacy. Everett spent his 40 year career as a Director of Pharmacy for Hospitals.
While in high school, Everett meet the love of his life, Sandra Haralson. Shortly after graduating school they were married on August 27, 1966 in Safford, Arizona. Together they celebrated 57 years of Marriage. Everett and Sandra were blessed to have two children together, Craig and Tonya.
Everett lived in Parker, AZ for over 35 years. Everett and Sandra have spent their retirement spending summers in their Cabin in Alpine, Arizona and their winters in Mesa, Arizona. Everett had a passion for the outdoors, including spending time at the cabin, hunting for deer, Elk, Turkey and Javelina and fishing at Big Lake. He was an avid gardener including vegetable and flower gardens. At his cabin in Alpine, Everett planted a beautiful fruit tree orchard including plums, apricots, apples and cherries. Everett had a knack for woodworking, creating bird houses, wine racks, candy machines, picture frames, coat trees, butcher block, entertainment center, and so much more. His woodworking shop was top priority when they moved into their cabin in 1991. Everett also enjoyed cooking and making sausage, hiking with his family and dogs, picnics in the forest, BBQs. Everett was a very proud American Patriot.
Everett's biggest love in his life was his family. During retirement, Everett and Sandra spent their time together traveling thru Europe. Including river cruising on the Danube, Rhône, trip to Poland, trip to Scotland and a trip to Ireland as a surprise for Sandra on their 50th Anniversary. Everett deeply loved his grandchildren and loved spending his time with them. He loved to share his knowledge with them, joke and tease, and teach them how to do many different things. They would also play cards, hike, golf and fish together.
Everett is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Smith, his children; Craig (Shelly) Smith and Tonya (Michael) Ray, his grandchildren; Nathan Ray, Maggie Ray, Riley Ray, Taylor Smith, Hunter Smith, Dallin Ray, Austin Ray, Tanner Ray, and Jessica Ray. He is predeceased by his grandson Ty Everett Smith.
A memorial service will occur Friday, October 6, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care, 400 South Power Road, Mesa, AZ 85206. A reception for Everett will be held following the service at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2700 E. Guadalupe Rd., Gilbert, AZ 85234.
