Evelyn A. Kristo, 84, passed away November 24, 2017, in Phoenix, Arizona. She was born March 31, 1933, to George and Mae [Gossett] Atkinson on the family farm near Apex, Christian County, Kentucky. In 1956, Evelyn was married to Stanley Joseph Kristo, and together they raised their son, Michael Joseph Kristo. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished her family. When Michael went to high school, Evelyn became a Real Estate agent and worked in that profession for many years. She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing in her younger years, and sewing for her granddaughter, Stephanie, making costumes for the different plays she was in, such as “The Sound of Music” and “Grease”. Evelyn also enjoyed traveling throughout the country with Stanley and ended up visiting almost every state. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Virginia Kristo; her granddaughter Stephanie Kristo; brother, Paul Atkinson; brothers-in-law, George Kristo; sister-in-law, Josie Krause; nieces and nephews, Steve, Nancy, Paul Jr. “Chip”, Kathleen, Reese and Chris. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Stanley on January 25, 2016; her granddaughter Jacqueline Kristo, brothers, Alfred and Kendall Atkinson and her sisters, Ruth Miller and Linda Atkinson. A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00pm, Thursday, November 30, 2017, at Mariposa Gardens Cemetery Chapel, 6747 East Broadway Rd in Mesa. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30am, Friday, December 1, 2017, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 3550 East Knox Rd, Phoenix, AZ. Arrangements entrusted to Mariposa Gardens (480) 830-4422.
