Carolann Roberta Ivie passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017, in Mesa, AZ. Carol was born December 29, 1935, in Hyrum, Utah, the youngest child of Horace Leon and Ruth Ashby Ivie. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Noel Ashby Ivie and Alma Raelden “Ray” Ivie. Carol is survived by her sister, Joyzelle Ivie Wade of Mesa AZ, and her brother, Evan Leon Ivie of Nauvoo IL.
Carol graduated from Brigham Young University in 1958. She later worked in Salt Lake City as the secretary to the Seven Presidents of the Seventy for six years. She was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, working in many various capacities and callings. She was a woman of service. She served a mission while she was young to the Hermosillo, Mexico Mission, and later in life to the Salt Lake City Family History Mission. Missions and missionary work were some of the most enjoyable times of her life. She enjoyed working for more than 30 years as a volunteer in the Mesa, Arizona Temple, and also devoted 17 years to volunteering at the Mesa Cannery every Wednesday after she retired from full-time work. Carol also served a third mission at the Mesa Family History Extraction/Indexing center.
While living in Mesa, Carol worked for various law firms, was a bailiff in Phoenix courts, and also a secretary at Motorola. She served her community as a public servant with the Arizona State Emergency Management Department as well.
Carol was an avid dog lover and aunt to many nieces and nephews, Carol will be missed by her family and friends. Her example of service is an inspiration to all.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 12:00 noon at the Mesa Maricopa Stake Center, 613 N. Stewart, Mesa, AZ 85201. Arrangements are entrusted to Advantage Melcher Chapel of the Roses. Interment will be in the American Fork Cemetery, 26 W. 600 N., American Fork, UT 84003 at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017.
