Betty Jacinto Fairchild, 79, of Mesa, AZ passed away at her home on Monday, March 5, 2012. Betty was born June 18, 1932 in Niles, CA to Jess and Clara Jacinto. She lived in Alvarado, CA and attended Washington High School in Centerville. After graduating from the College of the Pacific in Stockton, CA with a P.E. Major in Education, she taught high school at Manteca and Clearlake, CA and elementary school in Palo Alto, CA. She co-authored one of the first manuals for handicapped physical education and was instrumental in developing the Olympics for the physically impaired. She and Jim moved to Leisure World in 1985 and she enjoyed the activities there serving as President of the Tennis Club, the Sorority Club and playing golf. Betty is survived by her husband of almost 59 years Jim and her four children; Jimmy (Sacramento, CA), Catherine (Mesa, AZ), Anne (Pauldin, AZ) and Dawn (Encinitas, CA). She is preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers Jess, Jr. and Hubert. Visitation for Betty will be held Thursday, March 8, 2012 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at Melcher Mission Chapel, 6625 E.
