Bennie Webster Burrows passed away on August 13, 2011, in Mesa, Arizona. Born in Rochester Township of Cedar County, Iowa, to Bert and Sadie (nee Yearnington) Burrows, Bennie arrived on April 18, 1918. Bennie graduated from high school and college in Iowa. He then married Anita Byrne. A proud veteran of the Army Air Corps, Bennie served his country earning a Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters. For 24 years, he worked in the electrical industry as an engineer. He and his wife, Anita, maintained their home in Oakland, California, and after retirement moved to Lower Lake, California. They wintered in Mesa, Arizona. Anita passed away in 1985. Later, Bennie married Irene Paape, and they have resided in Mesa, Arizona. Bennie is survived by his loving wife Irene (Paape) Burrows of Mesa, Arizona, daughter Sandra DeTata of Livermore, California, daughter Karen (Manuel) Martin of San Ramon, California, son Michael Burrows of Oakley, California, step-daughter Jeannine Iverson of Prior Lake, Minnesota, step-son Dr. William (Linda) Paape of Bismarck, North Dakota, 5 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother George Burrows, grandson Danny Kershaw, son-in-law Joe DeTata, and step-son-in-law Carl Iverson.
