Lynda was born to Haden and Mary Cribbs on May 13, 1942 in Beaumont, TX. She was one of 4 brothers and sisters. She was an honor student in high school, selected as Who’s Who of American High School Students and an officer with Chi Omega sorority at Mississippi State University.
Lynda met her husband, Herb Etheridge in 1958 in study hall at Beaumont High School. Herb says he saw her walking down the stairway and thought he saw an angel. Two days later, on their first date, Herb and Lynda were “hitched” at a high school dance. They’ve been a couple for 64 years. They married on August 31, 1962 and went on to have sons Trey of Melbourne, Florida and Haden of Denton, Texas. The Etheridge family then proceeded to live in numerous cities: San Angelo, TX (2 years); Midland, TX (5 Years); Roswell, NM (6 Years); North Little Rock, AR (32 years) and Melbourne, Fl (6 years).
In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Lynda also loved her multiple volunteering opportunities, keeping score at her sons’ sporting events, cheering on her grandsons, staying actively involved in their church, and playing games with family and friends. (She was a master bridge player!) Lynda loved music, especially Elvis Presley, as she served as the president of his southeast Texas fan club in high school. Lynda was also a certified Daughter of The American Revolution and a leader of the Junior League. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, and shared His light with everyone.
Lynda joins her parents, Haden and Mary, and her brother, Sonny, in Heaven. She is survived by her husband Herb, her sister Beth, her brother Tommy, her son Trey and his wife Donna, her son Haden and his wife Jill. She was a very proud and loving grandmother to Garrett, Russell and Brooks Etheridge.
