Jim is survived by his son, Mark Lynch of Cape Canaveral, Florida; his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Lauren Lynch of Merritt Island, Florida; his sister, Phyllis Lynch of Los Angeles, California; and his beloved grandchildren Anna Katherine, Noah and Charlotte Lynch. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Helen Lynch and his daughter, Michelle Lynch.
Jim was born on August 22, 1942 in Lakeville, Minnesota. He graduated from Lakeville High School, Class of 1960. He attended St. Olaf College and University of Minnesota. In 1967, he fled the cold of Minnesota for the sunshine of Southern California. Once there, he worked and raised his children in Irvine, California. After his grandchildren were born, he retired and relocated to be closer to them, first to Lafayette, Louisiana and then to Merritt Island, Florida.
Jim spent his final years doting on Anna Kate, Noah, and Charlotte. He never missed a chance to see his grandchildren, whether picking them up from school, enjoying family dinners, or attending every school activity and sporting event possible. An exceptionally patient grandparent, Jim never shied away from helping with math homework, one thousand piece puzzles, or LEGO projects. As far as Jim was concerned, there was always time to read a story, play Chutes and Ladders, or watch an impromptu dance review. His daily presence in the lives of his children and grandchildren will be greatly missed.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, February 13, 2017. at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home in Merritt Island, FL. Visitation will begin at 10 am with a Prayer Service to follow at 11 am. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jim’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Jim’s name to Divine Mercy Catholic Academy 1940 North Courtenay Parkway, Merritt Island, Florida 32953.
