As a servant of Christ, he was transformed in an instant from suffering and death into God’s heavenly dwelling place through the loving presence of Jesus. Blessed by family, Ed is survived by his wife Carolyn F. Wegerif of almost 67 years, children Everett J. (Lorraine), Daniel G. (Denise), Diane Helseth (Craig), 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Ed’s parents immigrated to the US from Holland. He was born in Philadelphia and moved to Miami as a child. He served 2 years in the US Army, serving in Korea. He then attended University of Florida where he earned his Electrical Engineering degree. Ed moved his young family to Merritt Island in 1960 and worked on the Apollo program. He also owned and operated a citrus grove, loved his family, and served at First Baptist Merritt Island, the House of Hope and other local community organizations.
On Saturday September 16, 2023 at 10:00 AM the Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home will conduct a Family burial service at Georgiana Cemetery with Military Honors and First Baptist Church of Merritt Island officiating.
A Celebration of Life service for family and friends will be held Sunday, October 8, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Merritt Island Sanctuary.
