Douglas C. Wilson of Cape Canaveral, Fl went to be with the Lord on Wednesday January 22, 2014. Doug was born in Greer, South Carolina. He and his family moved to Cocoa Beach on the late 1970s. Doug founded his company, Doug Wilson Enterprises in 1982 with the goal of providing quality construction services to the local community. His achievements in the industry are legendary. From Hospitals to Cruise Terminals, and Town Halls and Fire Stations to Churches and homes, Doug’s hard work and dedication leaves a lasting imprint on the lives of the local community. Over 32 congregations in Brevard County worship in churches where Doug has provided his construction services. All of them consider him to be a friend. Doug and his wife worshiped at The First Baptist Church of Merritt Island.
Doug is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann; his mother Lucille Wilson; his children, Conrad Wilson and his wife Lindesy, Denise Brunson and her husband Jack Brunson, and Mark Hales; 7 grandchildren; his brother Dean Wilson and his sisters Ann White-Butler and Mary-Ellen Perry, and his Brother- in- Law Jim Sams. He was preceded in death by his father Frank Wilson.
Doug was known not only for his construction business, he was a champion surfer. Many local surfers remember the tall, thin,wiry guy on the long board dominating the waves at the Pier. He also was an avid NASCAR fan and cherished his time at the races. He loved fishing and spending time traveling in his RV with his wife and dog Kemo.
Doug will be remembered as a man who made everyone feel like they were his closest friend. His stories are legendary, and his cheerful outlook made the days brighter for all who knew him.
Calling hours for Doug will be held on Saturday, January 25th, 2014 from 10:00-11:00AM followed by Services which begin at 11:00AM at the First Baptist Church in Merritt Island.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of their choice.
