Donald is survived by his sons Donald Jr (Kim) of Cape Canaveral, Mike of Port St John, Kevin (Lori) of Rockledge; Daughter Donna Allson (Alex) of Charlotte, NC.; 12 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; brother Jim Saltsman of Owensboro, Kentucky.
Donald is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Martha; Parents Lester and Mabel Saltsman; sisters Nancy Harl and Barbara Evans; daughter-in-law Sandy Saltsman.
Donald was born in Owensboro, Kentucky and moved to Titusville in 1962. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and was considered one of the finest in the area. He owned and operated Saltsman Trucking along with his son Donald Jr. He retired from Kennedy Space Center in 1999.
Donald "Poochy Boy" "Grandpa" was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family, friends and his companion of 15 years, Buddy the cat. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Donald's name to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Wylie Baxley Funeral Home, 1360 N. Courtenay Pkwy, Merritt Island, Florida 32953. A funeral mass will be held at St Teresa's Catholic Church in Titusville at 11:00 am on Friday, September 8, 2023 with burial to follow at Brevard Memorial Park, 320 Spring Street, Cocoa, Florida 32927.
