Clarence passed away Sunday at Mississippi Care Center of DeKalb.
Mr. McKee was a native and lifetime resident of Kemper County.
He retired from the railroad as a switchman after 33 years and served as president of
his railroad union. Mr. Clarence loved gardening, hunting, fishing and attending the Abert
Masonic Lodge #89 of Starkville. He was a member of the Methodist church, VFW, Hamasa
Shrine and a US Navy Veteran during WW2. He enjoyed the outdoors especially his orchard
and tree farming. He loved country music , his favorite being Johnny Cash.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years Marie Neal McKee and daughter Becky May of DeKalb
grandchildren Shelly McKee (Tre’) Munger of Birmingham, Chris McKee of Asheville, NC,
and Dr. Cameron (Dr. Bri) May of Madison, great grandchildren Kaitlyn Munger, Christopher
Munger and Hank May, sister Janie Gressett of Meridian and special caregiver Nell Lewis of
Meridian. He was preceded in death by his son Dr. Bill McKee, brothers Hubert McKee,
Oma McKee, Hollis McKee and Harvey McKee.
Pallbearers are Dr. Cameron May, Chris McKee, Jeff McKee, Steve Gressett, Chuck Cooley
and Mark Cooley, honorary pallbearer John Beckham. Visitation 11 am Wednesday until
service at Stephens Funeral Home.
