Lamont Van Johnson Jr.

Lamont Johnson Jr. died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 36 after suffering all his adult life with mental illness and drug addiction. He leaves behind his family and friends who loved him so much. His mother, Jeanne Johnson, Father, Lamont (Lori) Johnson, his brothers, David Johnson, Jacob Johnson, and John Sigala, and numerous Aunties and Uncles. Lamont Jr. was born at Castle Air Force Base in Atwater on January 3rd, 1987. He attended Golden Valley High School and graduated from Merced High School Independent Study. He worked as a clerk at gas stations for several years until his illness prevented him doing so. He enjoyed reading, discussing history, cultural studies, geography and playing chess, but his biggest love was football and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Services will be held under the direction of Stratford Evans Merced Funeral home. Visitation and Rosary will be at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home on Monday, August 7th, 2023 from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Rosary starting at 6:00 P.M.

Mass will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 671 East Yosemite Avenue, Merced on August 8th, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. Burial at Calvary Cemetery. Reception following the burial will be at the reception hall next to Stratford Evans Merced Funeral home.

In lieu of flowers it is requested that you make donations in his honor to our local chapter NAMI - National Alliance for Mental Illness, or any shelters, churches or agencies that assist the homeless and addicted.
