Jose Tomasito Vigil was born on March 3, 1934 to Audenago Vigil and Erminia Romero in New Mexico. He was a resident of Merced for forty-one years. He was a Master Sergeant (Retired) in the U.S. Airforce for 26 years and was a civil servant for 17 years. Jose was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Merced, California and the American Legion.
Jose is survived by his wife Isabel Vigil; his children, Diane Shaw, Victor Vigil, Ralph Vigil, Mike Vigil and Monique McAllister; along with eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Services will be held for Jose at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Merced, California on Thursday, February 1, 2018, starting with a rosary at 9:30 a.m. and the mass at 10:00 a.m.. The burial will be on February 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
