William “Bill” Clifton Howard, Jr., 72, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022. He was born on July 9, 1949 in Humbolt, TN. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War as a Helicopter Crew Chief Repair and Maintenance Specialist. He was the first Toyota Master Technician in West Tennessee and was also an ASE Master Technician. He was a retired mechanic who was passionate about cars and never stopped learning and taking automotive classes. Bill never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. He had a unique ability to fix anything. He instilled his love of basketball in his children and was a longtime fan of the Memphis Tigers. He enjoyed fishing, restoring classic cars, going to the lake, attending dirt track races with friends, and spending time with family.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Reverend W.C. Howard and sisters, Sherry Howard and Janice Kelly. Survivors include his mother, Dolly Faye Howard, children, William (Susan) Howard and Regina (Dusty) Howard, grandson, Dominic Akers, brothers, David and Michael (Arleen) Howard, nephew, Joseph Howard, sister, Jane (Gerald) Hammond, dear friend, Evelyn (Mark) Howard, and several nieces and nephews.
A gathering of friends and family for Bill will be held Thursday, February 24, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 25, 2022 at 1:00 p.m., at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Road, Memphis, TN 38125.
