Russell “Rusty” James Witt, age 47, passed away on January 20, 2022. Russell spent most of his childhood in McHenry, Illinois, before moving to Jasper, Tennessee, when he was in sixth grade. He graduated from Marion County High School in 1993.
Russell loved God, his family, and his friends. He attended First Baptist Church in Cleveland, Tennessee. He loved to spend time with his family, and he enjoyed traveling—especially to the beach. He was known for his humor as well as for his passion about the things he believed in.
Russell was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lonnie and Mary Witt; his maternal grandparents, James and Dorothy Mertz; and his brother-in-law, Mark Makinen.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; their daughter, Katelyn; his father, Rickey Witt, Sr.; his mother, Alice Witt; his brother, Rick Witt, Jr.; his sister, Tracey Makinen; and aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, many beloved cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 26, at First Baptist Church in Cleveland, Tennessee, at 2:00 p.m. EST.
Russell will be so very deeply missed. He touched so many people, and his memory will live on forever in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Mr. Witt may be offered to the Bradley County SPCA (Cleveland, Tennessee).
