Robert William Pegram Jr., age 96, of Olive Branch, Mississippi passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. Robert was a World War II Veteran who served in the 9th Air Force in Germany and later served in the National Guard. Following WWII, Robert returned to Memphis with his family where he was a Control Room Supervisor for MLGW and he also served as the President of the Germania Club. Robert enjoyed staying up to date on world news and reading about military history. Robert was also an excellent "handy man" and woodworking craftsman.
Robert was preceded in death by his first wife, Angela, whom he met in Germany during WWII; second wife, Bettye; daughters, Christine Pegram Tucker and Beatrice Pegram Davis and brothers, James and Harvey Pegram. Robert is survived by two sons, Robert Joseph Pegram and Ulric Pegram; grandchildren, Angela Pegram Polk (Josh), Derek Pegram (Alisha), Justin Pegram, Danielle Pegram, Matt Tucker (Mary), Jessica Tucker, Jennifer Tucker (Keith), Jillian Nichols (TJ) and Jimmy Davis along with seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on November 14, 2023 from 11 am until 1 pm at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave., Memphis, TN 38122. Family and Friends will have a designated time from 12:30 until 1pm to share stories and thoughts. The burial will follow at 2 pm at West TN Veterans Cemetery.
