He graduated from Kingsbury High School and attended Memphis State. After college, he worked for Wittichen Lime and Cement of Memphis for several years. After years with Southern Concrete, he retired. Rick knew the business extremely well. He knew this profession so well, one time he quoted a job for the number of bricks needed for a project; they only had 3 bricks left over upon completion. He was very efficient and knowledgeable as a masonry. Everyone liked Rick. He never met a stranger and to tell jokes and make people laugh made his day.
Rick is survived by his wife, Patsy Long; two sons, Robert Ray Long and Richard (Wendy) Long, Jr.; two daughters, Melissa and Angie (Myfis) Wims; one sister, Victoria Fortune; nine grandchildren, Calvin, Hayden, Paige, Austin, Randy, Haley, Nikki, Allison and Hunter; one great grandchild, Carson; numerous cousins that he loved and cherished the time he spent with them.
We will miss you Rick and we all love you very much. Someday we will all be together again.
A graveside service for Rick will be on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 10:00 AM, Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Road, Memphis, TN 38134.
