He was born July 12, 1930 in Memphis, TN to Vesta and Ross Foshee. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Mary Jo (Micki), a daughter, Sherri Foshee of Bartlett, TN, and a son and daughter-in-law, David and Carol Foshee of Lakeland, TN, three grandchildren, Jessica Ford and her husband Dr. James Ford and their children (Hayden, Lucy and Wyatt), Rachel Tushek and her husband Eric Tushek and their children (Piper and Sadie), and youngest granddaughter Sally Foshee.
On October 5,1951 he married his childhood sweetheart, Mary Jo Stovall, just before leaving to serve two years in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He lovingly gave his new wife the nickname "Micki," and she was known by this name to most others from then on. They celebrated 69 years of marriage this year.
Upon returning from the Korean War, Raymond developed loving friendships with Micki’s two sisters (Jane McDurmon of Grenada, MS and Linda Gould of Orlando, Fl, and her brother, Bill Stovall, formerly of Bartlett, TN.) He and Micki spent many campouts with them fishing and playing cards.
He was a Chief Inspector for the City of Memphis, Public Works Department for more than 20 years, and upon retiring from this job he and Micki collaborated in real estate investment and home building in the Bartlett, TN area and in McNairy County, TN.
Raymond served as a Deacon at National Avenue Baptist Church for more than 20 years while teaching a men’s bible class and Training Union. Later they moved to Bartlett, TN where they attended Bartlett Baptist Church for many years. Raymond taught a men’s bible study and Micki sang in the choir. In the early 1990’s he and Micki became founding members of Faith Baptist Church where in the early years he served in various lay supporting roles. Since his wife's illness during the past two years, they have been unable to attend services. He simply refused to go without his beloved Micki!
Raymond is also survived by four brothers (Russell, Edwin, Carl and Donald) and one sister (Marilyn) and several nieces and nephews.
Raymond a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother will be dearly missed.
