Randie Thorpe, age 68, died February 13, 2019, at home due to complications from cancer that was caused from Agent Orange. He was preceded in death by his parents; George Albert & Mary Joyce Thorpe of Brighton, TN. From his birth in Covington, Tn on December 10, 1950, to his death, he always made sure he took care of his family. Randie joined the Army in 1967 to fight in the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Germany, Tacoma, Washington and Ft. Riley, Kansas. Randie departed the Army to care for his children and become a cross country truck driver, which he loved. In 1993 he had a truck wreck which broke his back and the doctors said he would never walk again, but in Randie's fashion, he proved them all wrong. Randie was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2017 and later with brain cancer in 2018. Due to Agent Orange he lost his battle to this terrible disease on February 13, 2019, but his wisdom, guidance and love will forever live on in us. Randie leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Margaret "Maggie" Thorpe of Brighton, TN;his brother, Charles Thorpe (Judy)of Covington, TN; three daughters, Stephanie Shackelford (Jeff) of Lakeland, TN, Rebecca Sutton (Tres) of Coldwater, MS and Jo Ann Grace of Herrin, IL; one step-son, David Reedy (Brandy) of Memphis TN. He was blessed to have 18 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 3 nephews, 3 great nephews, 3 great nieces and many friends. We will all love and miss him very much.
