Col. Paul Humphrey, Sr., 76, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Methodist Germantown Hospital in Germantown, TN. Mr. Humphrey was a retired Colonial of the United States Army. In his 40 years of service he wore many hats, one being an Army helicopter pilot and also served 15 years working in the Pentagon. Part of his time at the Pentagon was working for the Assistant Secretary of the Army. He served six years with the Tennessee National Guards in Nashville, TN with various positions, one being the Facility Engineer for the State of Tennessee. Mr. Humphrey also enjoyed flying his plane and working out in his yard. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Nita Humphrey; one daughter, Christy Humphrey of Eads; one son, Terry Humphrey, Jr. of Durham, NC; one brother, Anthony Humphrey of Memphis, TN; and one grandson, Michael Humphrey. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 29, beginning at 2 p.m. at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave., Memphis. The family asks that in lieu of flowers all memorials be made to The American Cancer Society or Saint Steven United Methodist Church in Memphis.
