Mildred Blaine

Mildred Hale Butler Blaine, born Aug. 4, 1919 passed quietly at home with family and friends. Mildred had one son by her first marriage, John S. Butler, who preceded her in death. Mildred leaves two grandsons, Chris Butler and William Butler of Memphis. Mildred later married Bill Blaine and leaves her stepson, Edward Blaine and wife, Martha, of Hot Springs.

Mrs. Blaine was Manager at Union Planters Bank Executive Dining Room for 26 years, where she was honored with many awards. Mrs. Blaine’s most memorable honor was received in 1980, when she received a Chef de Cuisine Award from the International Wine and Food Society of London, for a gourmet meal served to the local chapter of Gourmet Wine and Food Society at the request of Mr. Leslie Stratton, Sr. VP. The bank honored Mrs. Blaine with the official title of Assistant Vice President several years before her retirement.

Mrs. Blaine will be missed by her many nieces and nephews who became her children in her final years. The family will receive friends Saturday February 8, 2014, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel. Graveside services will be held at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church at 2 p.m., in the community of Arp, Hwy 19 W , Ripley, TN.
