Michael was born in Memphis, TN on June 2, 1945. He married Cathy DeShazo on February 17, 1983, in Memphis, TN. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army. He was an avid golfer as a long-time member of Windyke Country Club. He was active at Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
Michael is survived by his wife of 38 years, Cathy Sowell; his brother, Glenn Sowell (Joanne Sowell); his daughters Debbie Sowell (Chris McHaney), Holly Hill, and Talia Sowell; and his grandsons Gage Messer and Owen McHaney.
A visitation for Mike will be held Thursday, November 4 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 2404 Kirby Rd., Memphis, TN 38119. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM with Dr. Wade Cox officiating A graveside service will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119.
