Mary A. Mosteller

Mary Arnold Mosteller, 87, devoted wife and loving mother, passed away peacefully Monday May 26, 2014 at Ave Maria Home. Mary was an amazingly talented, dedicated and loving individual who brought a can do attitude to any project that she encountered. Her children knew her to be a master seamstress, carpenter, upholsterer, gardener, and electrician. She was truly the mother and master of Invention. There was nothing that she could not accomplish when she set her mind to it. She was a joyful servant to those that she loved, a loving caretaker to her parents, brother and husband in their times of need, and a role model to her children-teaching them the gift of compassion, the joy of family, and the love of life and adventure.

Mary possessed a great sense of humor, was an avid sports fan, and a wicked bridge player. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was born December 8, 1926, the daughter of Paul and Edith Arnold. She was happily married for more than 61 years to William E. Mosteller, Sr. who preceded her in death. Mary is survived by her nine children of whom she was immensely proud and supportive: William E. Mosteller, Jr., (Charlotte), Paul A. Mosteller, (Glenda), Pamela M. Guasco, (Mario), Timothy J. Mosteller, (Holly), Barbara M. Cobb, (Dennis), Sandy M. Reynolds, (Glen), Michael F. Mosteller (Nikki), Mark E. Mosteller, (Kathryn), and Janet M. Wallace (Mike) and 20 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Mary was a long time communicant at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bartlett and an active participant with the St. Vincent De Paul Society and ESP Club. She was a graduate of Catholic High School and attended Memphis State University. In addition to raising her nine children, she also worked as a bookkeeper.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 29th at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel from 5-8 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday May 30th at 1:30 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bartlett with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Ave Maria Home. The family would like to express its gratitude to all the wonderful people at Ave Maria Home who provided love and such wonderful care to Mary.
