Mary Hazel Cranford went home to be with the Lord on November 1st, 2011 at the age of 89. She was born on October 31, 1922 in a log cabin at Scotts Hill, TN and moved to Memphis in 1942. She was preceeded in death by her parents, William Boyd Overman and Amy Leora Buck, her brother William E. Overman, and her devoted husband of 57 years Fletcher P. Cranford.
Mrs. Cranford was formerly employed by H. J. Heinz Co. and Sears where she made some life long friends that became dear to her heart. She was a Christian and devoted member of Wells Station Baptist Church where she was a founding member in 1948. She went on to teach children and adults for over 50 yrs. in Sunday School, WMU, GA, Training Union, and VBS. Mrs. Cranford was a true homemaker and wife including cooking, gardening, canning, sewing, and active in PTA & Band support groups. She was well known for her casseroles and desserts.
Mrs. Cranford leaves her two daughters, Pamela K. Cranford and Martha A. Witcher of Memphis. She also leaves her two grandchildren, Miriam A. Witcher and Tyrel A. Witcher of Memphis.
Visitation will be 1-3 pm Nov. 5, 2011 at Wells Station Baptist Church 1510 Wells Station RD, services to follow at 3 pm. Interment at Memphis Memory Gardens 6444 Ral.-LaGrange RD.
