Margaret Lucille “Billie” Douglas, 99, passed away peacefully September 23, 2018. She was born December 6, 1918 to Mora and Clairdon Young. Her father passed away after her birth and her mother later married Earl C. Scurlock, Sr. Mrs. Douglas was raised in Truman, Arkansas, where she was a beauty queen at Truman High School. A homemaker, she also worked at Mullins United Methodist Church. She was a member of Highland Heights Methodist Church for many years and later joined First Assembly.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James N. Douglas; two sons, James N. Douglas, Jr. and Robert D. Douglas “Bobby”; daughter-in-law Bobbie Jean Douglas; her parents; her stepfather; two sisters, Laquetta Johnson and Estalee Grant and a brother, Earl C. Scurlock, Jr.
She is survived by a daughter, Marca Lee Douglas Simpson (Neil); daughter-in-law, Cathy Douglas, 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday September 25 from 5-7 P.M., funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 26, 2018 at 10 A.M; all at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38119.
Gifts in memory of Mrs. Douglas may be offered to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to The Bible Museum in Collierville, Tennessee
