Karen was born in Meriden, CT on August 7, 1941, and lived in the New England area until moving to Louisiana in 1979 and finally to Memphis in 1986. Always an independent, strong, resourceful, and beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Karen’s smile and laughter lit up our souls.
Karen was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mildred White and Charles A. Meyer and her sister Geraldine Meyer Bruenn. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Kelvin Hill (MS), her grandchildren, Joshua Gorham (MS) and Reed Hill (NV), her brother Arthur Grover Meyer (MA), her nieces and nephews, Carl and Leslie Bruenn (CT), Erica Bruenn (CT), Gene Meyer (MA) and Krista Meyer Enos (CT), Dave Schultz (IN) and additional family and dear friends.
We are delighted that Karen will be spending this Christmas in heaven. We can already see her laughing, singing and dancing with Jesus. If it isn't classic hymns, it is probably Elvis, Neil Diamond or the Gaither band playing.
She has found just the right hat to wear - it is probably purple and she knows just where to find the glazed donuts!
She has also found a place where she can watch movies (over and over and over) and snuggle with kitties and puppies for as long as her heart desires! Who knows, there might be penguins with her too!
She will be altering or designing new robes for everyone as she was an amazing seamstress. There were so many holidays where her daughter and her had matching outfits!
“I love her dearly and respect her for all that she has done for me. She brought me up in the church and always trusted God in all aspects of her life. She taught me to laugh – at myself and with the world around us – and I will be forever grateful!”
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Memphis Jewish Home & Rehab Staff Holiday Fund (https://form-renderer-app.donorperfect.io/give/memphis-jewish-home-and-rehab/staff-holiday-gift-fund-2022) honoring all they have done over the years for Karen, or a charitable organization of your choice.
Services will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022 at the Family Funeral Care at 4925 Summer Avenue, Memphis TN, 38122. There will be visitation from 1-2 pm and the service will begin at 2pm. The family would love to see you in purple, Karen’s favorite color!
