Jerry H. McCord, 88 passed away August 18, 2023, at his home in Bartlett, Tennessee of natural causes. Jerry was born on April 16, 1935, in Jackson, Tennessee to Robert Louis McCord and Alice (Duffey) McCord.
Jerry was a loving family man, avid fisherman, he loved hunting, and he was a retired Air Force Veteran. He was born in Jackson, Tennessee and raised in Gadsden, Tennessee. He joined the Air Force in 1954 and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1975. Jerry then worked for the United States Postal Service until he retired in 1997. He met and married his soul mate Emily Screws in 1959. They have been married and enjoyed wonderful adventures all over the world until he passed August 18, 2023.
Jerry was such a dedicated family man. He adored his wife, children, grandchildren, and his great grandchildren unconditionally. He was always involved and present for those special family moments. He was an outdoorsman and had a great love of hunting and fishing. He also loved to go camping in his travel trailer and always had a fishing boat. He was part of the Memphis Bass club and participated in many fishing tournaments through the years. He really enjoyed deer hunting and going to deer camp to be with family and friends. He was also proud of his military service and loved his country. Jerry impacted so many people’s lives by just being a great friend. The kind of friend that would do anything for you. He also always had a funny joke to tell to brighten your day.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister: Robert Louis McCord, Alice (Duffey) McCord, and Nancy (McCord) Patrick.
He is survived by his wife Emily McCord. He is also survived by his 2 children Gary McCord (Hope McCord), and Linda McCord Beach (Andy Beach). He is also survived by his 3 Grand Children Mallory McCord Meadows (Bryson Meadows), Dillon Beach (Hannah Prezioso), and Samantha Beach. He is also survived by his 2 Great Grandchildren Haisley Meadows, and soon to be Rowan Beach. He is also survived by his nieces Alice Putnam, and Karen Williams. A visitation for Jerry will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122. A funeral service will occur Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122. A rotunda service will occur Friday, August 25, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd, Memphis, TN 38125.
