James Edward Thompson, 30, beloved son and brother, was born on May 27, 1982 in Memphis, Tennessee and died on December 10, 2012 in the British Virgin Islands. James, a graduate of the Class of 2000 from Collierville High School, was a U.S. Navy sailor from 2001 – 2005 as an Aviation Electronics Technician. Because of his Navy training, he was recruited by IBA Dosimetry America as Field Engineer from January 9, 2006 to the present. He was an avid Tiger Fan and a season ticket holder for the past five years. He loved soccer and was a certified coach for the Tennessee Soccer Association. More important, he was a follower of Christ and a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Cordova, Tennessee. James’ family will receive guests and friends for visiting and refreshments on Saturday, December 22 from one o’clock until four o’clock in the afternoon. Funeral services will be on Sunday, December 23 beginning at two o’clock in the afternoon with Pastor Chip Hatcher officiating. All of the services will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens located at 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. James is survived by his parents Richard & Deborah Thompson of Hernando, MS; sisters Jessica Neely (Christopher) of Olive Branch, Mississippi and Whitney Thompson of Memphis; four nieces and nephews: Blake, Caleb, Lane & Aubrey Neely; maternal grandfather William Scarborough of Southaven, MS and paternal grandmother Monty Thompson also of Hernando; and also aunts, uncles, cousins and friends too numerous to count.
