Glenda Shirlene Alexander

Glenda Shirlene Morgan Alexander passed away on August 29, 2017, surrounded by family and friends. Glenda was born February 22, 1940 in Mississippi County AR to the late Elsa Earl and Thelma Cordelia Morgan. The family moved to Russell, AR in 1947. She attended school at Bradford where she met many friends cherished throughout her life, and also, her future husband, Dallis Alexander. After graduation she worked as a funeral director at Jackson Funeral Home in Newport, AR until her marriage on July 31, 1958. Glenda and Dallis lived briefly in Newport, soon moving to Memphis where they cherished the neighbors surrounding their home on Aden Street. In 1996 they moved to their final home in Bartlett. Glenda was preceded in death by her husband, Dallis Alexander, her brothers Wayne, Junior, and Larry, and sister Jean Hanks. She is survived by sons Keith Alexander and Stephen Alexander, grandson Robert Alexander, granddaughter Christi Dredge, daughter-in-law Vicki Alexander, brother James Morgan, and a host of nieces and nephews and cherished friends. Some of Glenda’s favorite trips were to Lancaster, PA, frequent trips to Gatlinburg, TN, and occasional trips to casinos. Glenda will be sadly missed by family and friends. Visitation with a reception will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday September 1, 2017 at Family Funeral Care. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2017, also at Family Funeral Care. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Germantown Road.
