Gladys Piper Pierce, age 95, of Bismarck, Arkansas, widow of Joe Radford Pierce, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. She was born in Tofield, Alberta, Canada on January 20, 1929 to C. W. Piper and Mildred Ferguson Piper. She was known for her dry quick wit. She enjoyed growing and arranging flowers for friends. She was active in her Sunday school class at Agape Baptist Church (Bartlett, TN).
Gladys moved to Tennessee in 1941 with her brother, Walter Everett Piper and sister, Ruth Elaine Fitzgerald. She graduated from Fairview Junior High School and attended Collierville High School before graduating from Sladen High School. She attended Draughon's Business School and retired from the University of Tennessee Medical Science Center.
She is survived by her daughters, Theresa "Teke" Totty (Clarence "Bud") and Joyce Schimenti (Doug); grandchildren, Joseph Edward Totty, Jacob Pierce Totty (Melissa), and Douglas Michael Schimenti; great-grandchidren, Parker Ashton Totty (Lavender), Luke William Totty, and Zoe Ann Totty; and great-great-granddaughter, Piper Angela Totty. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Cornelia "Connie" Wright, John Fitzgerald, Frank Fitzgerald, and Ann Fitzgerald Blake.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, July 29 at 10:00 AM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. Graveside services will immediately follow at 11:00 AM, at Memorial Park Cemetery.
