On June 19th, 1980, Gerald married Jenny (DeShazo) Goforth. They went on to have two children, Rebecca and Emilie Goforth. He helped support his family as a skilled electrician at McCrory Electric for over 30 years. After his retirement in 2001, Gerald devoted time to his family, pecan picking, thrift store treasure hunting, the dobro guitar, and being close to God.
He had great love for bluegrass music, owning many string instruments and playing in several bands in his later years. He also enjoyed reading (especially the word of God) , birdwatching, taking care of animals, listening to sermons, and spending time with his granddaughter Autumn.
Gerald was preceeded in death by his parents, Rance and Marie Goforth, as well as his son, Earl. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jenny, and his children, Wayne, Alan, David, Bill, Emilie, and Rebecca. He leaves behind 4 grandchildren: Michelle, Jerry, Eddie, and Autumn.
We know you've gone on to see Jesus and so you have found peace. Although you will be greatly missed, it is a great comfort to know you are finally home and will greet us at the gate.

A committal will occur Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Rd, Memphis, TN 38134.
