Fred Larry Pillow was born in Humboldt, TN on February 21, 1945 to Lofton and Reba who preceded him in death. He passed away in his home in Cordova, TN November 10, 2021 at the age of 76. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Hilda Sanders and brother, Joe. Larry is survived by his wife, Frances, of 41 years; sisters, Marjorie Allen of Humboldt, TN and Sandra Sisk of New Albany, MS; brother, Glen (Joan) of Mt Juliet, TN; seven children, Sherri Brown of Hernando, MS, Larry Jr. of Branson, MO, Rebecca Erwin (Philip) of Lakeland, TN, Sandra Barkley of Arlington, TN, Lofton (Katie) of Collierville, TN, Brandon of Bartlett, TN and Joseph (Esther) of Collierville, TN; thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
Due to his recent illness, Larry retired from GTG, general contractors of Memphis, TN in 2021 after 50 years of service as a superintendent. He was respected in his field for his numerous building accomplishments all over the city of Memphis. His favorites were Rhodes College, Paul Barret Jr. Library and Second Presbyterian Sanctuary. He loved his job with GTG! He loved Calvary Rescue Mission of Memphis where he preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ for 14 years and served as a Board member. He loved Bellevue Baptist Church and was a faithful member for 33 years! He loved his family! He loved to fish and he was a "Fisher of Men." Above all, He loved Jesus! Larry's favorite Bible verse was 2 Corinthians 5:21. We are Jesus People.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 20th from 9:30-12pm at The Refuge Church 9817 Huff N Puff Rd, Lakeland, TN 38002. The funeral service will follow from 12-2pm with the burial to take place at Memorial Gardens 3700 N Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN 38133.
