Elizabeth Holcomb Crockett, 78, died Sunday July 31st at her home in Memphis, Tennessee. She is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, Clarence A. Crockett, her daughter Elizabeth Henry, her sons Neil Henry, Randy Crockett, and David Crockett, her six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Elizabeth was born April 23, 1938 to Gertrude Inez Fitchpatrick Holcomb and J. Ross Holcomb Jr. She was born and raised in Memphis, TN and graduated from Humes High School in 1957. After working for the Memphis Police Department and graduating cosmetology school, Beth worked as a hairdresser for thirty years. Beth owned and operated Yarns To Go, an independent local hobby shop for ten years. Knitting, cooking, and time spent with her family were her true passions.
She was an advocate for volunteering in her community. For twelve years she volunteered at the St. Jude Target House to teach patients and their families how to knit. Beth was the volunteer coordinator of St. John’s Episcopal Prayer Shawl Group for eight years. She will be truly missed by her friends and family. Family will receive guest Thursday from 10 am until the service starts at 1 pm at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
