Edward Brown Jr. was born on November 15, 1938 in Birmingham, AL to Annie Lee Brown and Edward Brown both preceded in death. Edward had 4 siblings, 3 brothers who preceded him in death Fredrick “Freddie” Smith, Albert Smith, Johnny Lee Smith, and 2 sisters Mattie Edwards(Surviving), Willie Lee(deceased).
Edward, affectionately known as Ed, decided to drop out of school and obtain his GED in order to enlist in the US Army. While in the Army Ed was a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division. Ed received a Good Conduct Medal, Parachutist Badge and Sharpshooter Badge with rifle bar. Ed was honorably discharged from the Army in 1965. Ed went on to work at Chrysler Automotive for several years, along with doing small construction jobs. Ed enjoyed doing construction a lot more than car assembly, which led him to starting his own Construction company in Highland Park, MI. The name of the company was Brown’s roofing company.
Edward has 10 children, Sheneeter, Venonia(Rick), Edward III(Theresa), Terrance(Jackie), Arlene(Marlon), Marlene, Darnell Sr, Ryan, Robyn, and Adrian. Edward has 25 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Edward will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122.
